A city in the county of Sainte Genevieve, Missouri has the same name as the county -- Sainte Genevieve. The reason for its unique French name is because the city was found by French Canadian colonists. And that is why the structural design of the buildings in the city is dominated by French designs and the original setup of the homes built within the town is made of wood. A home normally has galleries or what we know as the porch which surrounds the home itself. Sainte Genevieve City boasts of having the largest concentration of French Colonial Buildings in the country. In fact, some of these French-inspired building are open to the public and their names are the Guibord-Valle houses, the Bolduc, and the Amoureux. Year in, year out, people have been flocking to this city because of its high concentration of specialty shops and antiques. And be sure to stay at any Sainte Genevieve bed and breakfast inns.
